Restorate stockinette mutton cloth is perfect for applying and burnishing waxes and bringing up a shine. The knitted cotton strands create more friction, which speeds up the burnishing process.
The stockinette is 100% unbleached cotton (cream – beige in colour). Cheaper coloured or bleached variants are generally not 100% cotton and they usually are mixed fibres with a synthetic base.
The Coarser grade is excellent for applying wax paste to large surfaces such as doors or floors and general cleaning. Its coarser cotton weave holds the wax polish, enabling you to work the wax over the surface and burnish to a better shine far better than standard cotton cloths, which have a tendency not to hold the wax and slide over the surface.
The Finer grade Stockinette is softer and commonly used for wax polishing furniture and smaller areas, including car body panels.
As rolls of Stockinette are a knitted product, technically it isn’t lint free; when it is cut small fibres can be shaken from the cut end of the roll. The furniture and car detailing trade shake the Stockinette after cutting and fold in the cut ends to minimise fibres.
